Michael Tonus
Originally from the Greater Toronto Area I first moved to Montréal in 2005 to pursue a degree at McGill University. Graduating with my Bachelor of Arts degree I went on to work on theatrical productions with a number of companies around the city.
I began attending the Production Program at the National Theatre School of Canada in 2014, and graduated from that program in 2017. I have been pursuing both design and technical direction opportunities since I began studying there.
For me, all theatre design is about supporting other artists in telling a story. Whether by directing audience focus, setting the scene, the mood, or creating a bold, memorable image, my approach to design is to find the opportunity for beauty and for striking stage pictures in every moment of a piece.
